Feast of Ss Peter and Paul

Peter is the Universal Pastor:  we pray for Pope Francis that listening with a compassionate love to all Christians in our search to live the Gospel in the modern world,  he will succeed in bringing renewal and reform to God’s Church – we pray especially that his Encyclical Letter on the Environment will call forth decisive action to care for our Earth and bring about ‘Global Healing’

                    [reader]           LORD,  WE PRAY…
[response]     RENEW YOUR CHURCH IN LOVE

Paul was all things to all people in order to bring the Gospel to the nations:  we pray that our parish, the Churches of our area and Christians everywhere may answer the challenge of a authentically New Evangelisation as we grow as a People in Communion for Mission

LORD, WE PRAY…

Peter and Paul carried the Gospel of peace:  we pray for the freedom and peace of our world,  especially in the Cameroon, Sudan and throughout the Middle East, and wherever there is turmoil and conflicts – we pray in particular for the people of the Yemen and the Gulf Region – may we  all have the courage to build a world without war

LORD,  WE PRAY…

Peter served the unity of the Churches,  and Paul had the fire of a prophet:  we pray for the unity of all God’s people and that the Church will welcome the prophets who disturb us with the radical God of Jesus: we pray in particular for all those who go the margins and seek Justice for the poor, the excluded and for our refugee sisters and brothers

LORD,  WE PRAY…

Peter and Paul were set aside by God’s call for their work:  we pray for men and women ordained at this time to God’s service in our various denominations, and for all preparing for ordination, especially ….
that all might serve with a generous heart and preach the Word with courage and compassion

LORD,  WE PRAY…

Peter and Paul built up the Body of Christ in love: we pray that Peter and Paul will help us build a hospitable and healing Church: we pray for the sick and hurting of body, mind and spirit, especially …
For all who have died recently, especially in the conflicts of the Syria and Yemen and all victims of war and poverty

Sixth Sunday of Easter

‘We will make our home in you …’ says Jesus – may the People of the Resurrection so love the Risen Lord that we will experience him alive within us, and reaching out into the world through our communities

                                          [READER]            LORD WE PRAY…
[Response]         Come make your home with us…

‘Peace I leave you…’ says Jesus – may the cries of the world’s victims of war be heard at last,  may peace reign upon the earth: we pray for the peoples of Syria and Yemen, Afghanistan, Palestine and Central Africa; we pray also for the thousands of unaccompanied child refugees in Europe and pray for a change of heart in our government who refuses to welcome them

                                                                              LORD WE PRAY…

‘I go to send you another Advocate, the Holy Spirit…’ says Jesus – may we open our hearts and lives to the Spirit’s gift, grow to know God more profoundly, abandon ourselves to Divine Love, and touch the world in the Spirit’s Power of Loving

                                                                              LORD WE PRAY…

The First Council of the Church welcomed the newcomers who brought many challenges and changes – we pray for the Unity of God’s Church, the openness of Christians to a new world and new generations, for a Church that belongs to young people; we pray for especially for the Little Sisters of Jesus and the many fraternities of Bl Charles de Foucauld as they live the mission of hidden and simple loving

                                                                              LORD WE PRAY…

‘Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid’ says Jesus – may we support with renewed generosity the life and mission of our parish community by our giving of prayer, time, energy and money, in service of the Kingdom: we pray too for God’s guidance for our nations as its politics is in chaos, that the Common Good and values of the Kingdom of God may come to the fore and the cries of the poor be heard above all else.

                                                                              LORD WE PRAY…

‘I give you a Peace the world cannot give…’ says Jesus – for the courageous doctors and nurses of Medecins sans Frontiere as the bring healing into war zones; for all in need of healing and peace in our parish, especially….
for the eternal life of all who have died recently, especially all killed in the world’s war zones and on refugee journeys in hope of freedom;

We pray in the silence of God’s Loving for other needs….

Fifth Sunday of Easter Year C

Jesus says, ‘Now the Son of Man is glorified’ … may the Church in every land and of every tradition glorify Jesus by the love we bear for one another and the unity we seek
[Reader]            LORD WE PRAY…
[Response]      Send us in Your Love…

‘I saw a new heaven and a new earth’, writes St John … may our love create justice, struggle for peace and heal our wounded history wherever violence, war and conflict has scarred our humanity – we pray especially for Syria and Yemen, for the Ukraine, for the conflict-torn parts of Africa

LORD WE PRAY…

Jesus urges us, ‘By this love you have for one another will everyone know you are my disciples’ …  may our relationships be deepened, all divisions healed, and may we encourage each other in our gifts and uniqueness so that the power of our love might witness to the Risen Christ

LORD WE PRAY…

‘The world of the past is gone and I am making all things new’ writes St John … We pray that all peoples and the leaders of nations and business may recognise the threats to our beautiful planet and act decisively to end global warming and bring healing to the earth and justice to the poor who will suffer most form climate change

LORD WE PRAY…

LORD WE PRAY…

‘He will wipe away all tears from their eyes’: we pray for the sick, the housebound, the lonely and the depressed; in particular we pray for ….
‘There will be no more death’ … for all who have died recently, especially …. and all who have perished in war, famine and on the refugee journey, that they will experience Resurrection New Life and Freedom
and for those whose anniversaries are at this time: ….

LORD WE PRAY…

Let us ask Mary, Mother of the Risen Christ, to teach us to love with the heart of Christ
                                                                         HAIL MARY…

Let us pray in silence for other needs…

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR C

The Church’s deepest call is to love without limit: we pray for the renewal of the Church and an end to the scourge of clericalism … we pray especially for our Chief Shepherd, Pope Francis, our own Bishop Declan and the whole College of Bishops: with humility and love may they guide us wisely, compassionately and courageously

               [reader:]              LORD YOU CALL US…
[response:]        YOUR WILL BE DONE…

The World’s call is to be human,  and to protect the life and well-being of every person:  that all races and nations will struggle for peace rather than struggle in war: for the peoples of the Middle East, Yemen and South Sudan and the world’s many theatres of conflict

                             LORD YOU CALL US…

Our Parish Community’s call is to embrace Jesus’ challenge to be the Shepherd for the people of the Inner City, a place of welcome for all without exception: may we gather the poor and broken into healing and hope, and the excluded into belonging; following the Shepherd may we reach out to all and inviting them to the Table of the Lord

                             LORD YOU CALL US…

Some are called to ordained ministry or the religious life:  for the students of our Diocese studying for the priesthood in seminaries, especially Henry as he journeys among us here at St Nicks; for those studying for the permanent diaconate in their own parishes;  for our young women and men that they might welcome God’s call to serve with their whole lives in ordained Ministry and Religious Life; for the Church that we might be open to new forms of ordained ministry as the Spirit calls and shapes in our age and for our world

                             LORD YOU CALL US…

All of us are equally called through Baptism and Confirmation to holiness and to ministry:  for our young people and children that they might grow in a sense of vocation, especially those preparing for First Eucharist; for those called to the single life or to Christian marriage may give themselves faithfully to their particular vocation: may we all answer the call to be shepherds one to another, serving the Kingdom and the Gospel, with love for one another and our world;

                             LORD YOU CALL US…

We are all called to life and wholeness:  for those afflicted with hunger and malnutrition, with mental turmoil and disability, for the housebound of our parish, and also for ….
for all who have died recently, especially …. and all who have died of famine or war;
for those whose anniversaries occur at this time:

                              LORD YOU CALL US…

Let us ask Mary, who uttered her ‘Yes’ to God’s Call,  to pray that each will embrace our vocation more profoundly…

                              HAIL MARY…

Let us pray in a moment of silence for unknown needs…

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR C

‘Simon Peter, do you love me?’ … Jesus forgives and heals the failures of Peter and the first Apostles:  may Pope Francis be strengthened to lead the Church as a community of forgiveness and mercy, of humility, honesty and renewal … that through our failures we may  grow to love the Lord with such intensity that the world will be challenged to believe

[reader]               LORD WE PRAY…
[response]         Send us in the power of your love

The beloved disciple cried out, ‘It is the Lord’ … may all in our society who find it so hard to believe recognise the Lord in all his goodness, life-giving and healing in the midst of our contemporary world of joy and sorrow, hope and hurt

[reader]               LORD WE PRAY…

John saw in his vision all creation praising and worshipping our God … may our parish community grow deeper in its prayerfulness, welcome times of adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist, care for our planet and rejoice to praise the wonder of God in all creation

[reader]               LORD WE PRAY…

‘Obedience to God comes before obedience to men’ says Peter boldly … may we have love’s courage to obey God first, to build a world of equality and freedom, to challenge every injustice, racism and discrimination, safeguarding the dignity of all, especially the vulnerable and those seeking safe refuge and asylum among us and throughout Europe: we pray especially for our brother Azeem, detained this week pending removal to Pakistan where is life is threatened

[reader]               LORD WE PRAY…

‘We are witnesses to all this, we and the Holy Spirit’ … may we open wide our hearts to the power of the Spirit that will send us out as joyful witnesses to the Good News, prophets of peace and healers of our brothers and sisters; we pray that our young people will catch from us something of the fire of the Spirit – and we also from them

[reader]               LORD WE PRAY…

Jesus healed Peter and the others of their infidelities … may God bring healing and peace to all our hearts, empower us in the healing ministry of this parish, and bring wholeness to all for whom we pray ….
For the final healing of the Resurrection for all who died recently, especially those who are victims of famine, terror and conflict;
and for all whose anniversaries are at this time, in particular

[reader]               LORD WE PRAY…

Mary, Mother of the Church, pray with us, pray for us…

HAIL MARY…

We pray in a moment of silent love…
